Finding good local niche markets is key to our success with Offline consulting, so in this video I go over one of the tools that I use on a regular basis to help me identify the best local markets.

Google insights the search is one of my primary tools that I use regularly because it gives us the ability to be able to see very clearly which areas have decent search numbers and in fact it has saved the day many times by not wasting effort in local areas the way produce.

For example you might be looking to go after air-conditioning companies, however there are many areas that air-conditioning all heating for that matter are not great markets to be going after.

A big point here is don’t be put off by the fact that some local niche markets and industries aren’t viable in your immediate area because you can market to these local business owners anywhere in the country.

Choosing the right Local Business Clients – Case Study1

In the last post I talked about going where the money is and how important this is to quickly build a successful local internet marketing and consulting business.

Following on from there, let’s have a look at an example of one of my students as a case study.

400 Choosing the right Local Business Clients Case Study1The reason Craig is a good example for many people is that he isn’t and SEO expert, nor is he and outgoing natural salesperson.

When Craig and I began working together on the Mentoring program, he wanted to target some local contractor type businesses because he had experience in the industry and felt comfortable which is only natural.

Craig wanted to target plumbers in the local areas and get them ranked on Google which is a pretty standard strategy.

One of the really important assignments that you have as a mentoring student is to identify exactly what you want your business to look like, how much money want to make and a whole range of important objectives.

Graig’s initial goal of reaching $150,000 plus per year with 10 to 15 clients just wasn’t going to work if the targeted plumbers as his local business niche.

This is extremely important and something you really should take careful note of when setting the goals and objectives for your local Internet marketing business.

Here’s the problem…

Once I got Craig to talk to a number of plumbers to identify the average customer value he realized that once we applied the Offline Goldmine formula for client values, there was no way he could charge sort of rating needed to to reach its targets and objectives.

The maximum monthly rate that we could charge the plumbers based on the number of paying clients that we could deliver to their business meant that Craig couldn’t charge much more than $300-$400 a month!

So what we did is simply change out target business; we didn’t change the offer and the services or anything else we only changed the local business niche, and by doing that Craig turned 10 clients into $275,000 a year.

In the next post I’ll show you exactly what we did, what we changed and how we achieved those goals.
